Please note the following regarding the Powers Steel 1 1/2" deep, 29 gage ribbed steel roof deck:
- The steel roof deck is 1 1/2" deep with stiffening ribs on all flat surfaces.
- The steel roof deck is .0130" thick minimum delivered thickness and .0137" minimum design thickness.
- The steel specification is ASTM - A653/SS80 Class 1 HSLA Fy = 80 ksi.
- This steel roof deck and steel roof deck with a similar configuration has been tested to failure 8 times. Based on AISI S100-16 (2020) w/S2-20 Section K2.1.1, the required factor of safety equals 1.91.
- The average failure load was 41.2 PSF. Applying the factor of safety: 41.2 PSF/1.91 F.S. = 21.5 7 PSF allowable load.
The deck weighs 1.0 PSF leaving an allowable live load capacity of 20.57 PSF.
This live load exceeds the code required roof live load of 20 PSF.
Therefore, the Powers Steel 1 1/2" deep 29 gage ribbed steel roof deck is rated for a live load of 20 PSF. - Note that the Powers Steel 1 1/2" deep 29 gage ribbed steel roof deck is comparable to the McElroy 1 1/2" deep 26 gage steel roof deck
